It is our policy to protect food products from international adulteration by biological, chemical, physical or radiological agents and from un-intentional product contamination risks, minimize the risk of inadvertant or malicious damage or tampering to products under our control.

Management is responsible to investigate suspicious activity, threats or information concerning tampering or other malicious actions. Management take the necessary steps to prevent the compromise of the safety of all products and alerts and proactively communicates internally and externally. Management also have a security management strategy to prepare for and respond to tampering and other malicious, criminal, or terrorist actions, both threats and actual events, including indentifying, segregating and securing affected product.

We ensure the following processes and systems are maintained:

• Recall - Recall procedures are formalised and validated regularly.

• Staff Screening and Supervision - Prospective employees are subject to screening to reduce the risk of criminal behaviour. Rivendell Poultry ensures that all operations are provided with the appropriate level of supervision to all staff, including cleaning and maintenance staff, contract workers, data entry and computer support staff, and especially, new and casual staff to ensure that control is exercised in all activities. Management will also ensure staff members are appropriately trained according to their job function.

• Awareness and Culture - Rivendell Poultry promotes Food Defense awareness to encourage all staff to be alerts to any signs of tampering or other malicious, criminal, or terrorist actions or areas that may be vulnerable to such actions and reporting any findings to management. All staff are encouraged to continuosly be on the look out and report unusual/suspicious behaviour by staff, for example: -

• Staff who, without an indentifiable purpose, stay unusually late after the end of their shift or arrive unusually early.

• Access files/information/areas of the facility outside of the areas of their responsibility: remove documents from the facility; ask questions on sensative subjects; bring cameras to work.

• Facility Security - access Security is maintained

• Food Security - incorporating food security awareness, including information on how to prevent, detect, and respond to tampering or other malicious, criminal, or terrorist actions or threats, into training programs for staff, including seasonal, temporary, contract, and volunteer staff.

• Encouraging staff support (for example, involving staff in food security planning and the food security awareness program, demonstrating the importance of security procedures to the staff).

• Information Security - data access is controlled.

• Operations Security - Rivendell Poultry include documented key steps to ensure and verify Food and Product Security and Operational Records are retained.

• Contractors and Visitors - are subject to site security controls.

• Security of Water and Utilities - Management limits, to the extent practical, access to controls for ventilation, water, electricity, and refridgeration on site. Contingency plans are established.

This Policy and the effectiveness of the Food Defense Program is reviewed by Management at the annual Management Review of the overall Risk Management System.
